Comments:
This motor took a lot of work and about 15 years to get it up & running. It had all the classic 62-T issues; carb and tiller both broken off from hitting the transom clamps, bad rings, worn waterpump, no magnetism in the flywheel magnet and a bad coil.

Thanks to many AOMCI friends for the parts to get it back together. The carb, tiller and prop spring came off a sister motor that was quite literally dug up out of the earth! A huge thanks to my friend Jim M. for his fantastic coil swap article on how to replace the coil with two OMC ones - it made all the difference.

This motor now runs as well as it did when it left the factory. It is so easy to start that it could give my G Ruddertwin a run for it's money. It will get my 12' aluminum boat on a plane and she'll do 7.2mph on the GPS. (For reference a 1956 Johnson AD-10 7.5hp we ran later in the day only did about 7.8mph!)

(The photos on the left are of the motor as I got it)

Here is a video of the Lockwood running for the first time on the water in a long time! (June 2011)
